Eco-responsible position!
The carbon footprint makes people aware of global warming, many winter sports resorts are already in a process of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Behind the banner of the “Compagnie des Alpes”, Tignes is already transitioning to a new fuel, the HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), for its snow-groomers this winter with the prospect of a 90% reduction in CO2!
The Grand Massif, Les Menuires, La Plagne, Serre Chevalier and Val d’Isère are also transitioning.
What is HVO?
HVO, Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, is a synthetic biofuel compatible with all diesel engines made from hydrogen reprocessed renewable raw waste materials sourced from the food industry, they include: cooking oil, residual oil and grease.

Snow groomer of the future
The 1st electric groomer in the world was created by CM Dupon SME a French company located in the Isère, of the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region in France.
Instead of the four years initially set aside by CM Dupon for the snow-groomer development, team CM Dupon was able to complete the design through to production phase/process in only two years, what a feat of engineering!
The CM Dupon snow-groomer has a projected lifespan of 7-10 years, consuming 4 times less energy than current snow-groomers with a conventional combustion engine (lifespan of 5-7 years).
With these new snow-groomers of the future, the objective is to renew the fleet by 2030, with all-electric, hydrogen and/or hybrid.
