Elevate Your Vibe: Altitude Style
It’s not about giving a nutrition class here, but simply keeping in mind important points to watch out for during a mountain stay, especially at altitudes exceeding 2000 meters, where the body reacts slightly differently.
As Tignes le Lac is already situated at 2100 meters, its ski area leads skiers to altitudes exceeding 3400 meters! At these heights, you may feel more breathless than usual, experience headaches, and notice a decrease in appetite and thirst. Although not alarming, it’s crucial to pay attention to these signals and simply listen to your body.
Energy and Enjoyment of the Mountains
Physical activity on the slopes requires a higher energy contribution than in a standard daily routine. It’s important to eat and drink enough to fully enjoy the mountain environment, which is cooler, higher, and more intense.
Not to forget the physical preparation for any mountain stay – on this note, ski schools are competent in guiding us. It’s crucial to balance our energy intake with a well-distributed diet during and after the effort.
For instance, to start the day well, what could be better than a complete breakfast? It’s a pleasant moment to share with family or friends before descending the snowy slopes. Snacking during the ski day is also a delightful moment that provides an energy boost to restart with enthusiasm.
Let’s never forget to have water at hand, as it is our best ally.
One of the favorite moments in the mountains is après-ski with a cup of tea or hot chocolate, accompanied by good crispy bread, dried fruits, fragrant brioches, delicious compotes, or even beautiful slices of ham and good Savoyard cheeses – a feast to share for a moment of relaxation, with water always in the spotlight, of course.
A suitable diet is our best asset in the ski season. Let’s adopt healthy eating habits, savor every moment, and why not enjoy a good traditional Savoyard dish to express our full form on the slopes!
Nutrition is a serious matter; there are many websites offering advice. Take the time to verify their sources. Ski and mountain sports professionals are generally the best-placed to provide specific and adapted recommendations for these demanding environments.
At Stay with us resorts, eating well is an ingrained philosophy, where healthy and balanced nutrition is at the core of our commitment.
